How to Apply

Applying for a grant is simple. Here's what to expect

Application Submission

Check that your project fits our guidelines and then apply by filling out the application form. Make sure to provide as much information as possible.

Collective Invitation

If your application aligns with our funding guidelines, you'll receive an invitation to your personal IOTA Builder's channel on Discord.

Evaluation & Interview

The interview is the chance to address any remaining questions. Afterwards, your application will be thoroughly assessed by our committee members.

Funding Decision

Once the committee reaches a decision, it will be communicated to you through your personal channel.

Our Funding Guidelines

Making sure our grants hit the right targets for maximum impact

Relevance & Impact

Your project must push the IOTA network and its ecosystem forward. It has to solve a problem or fulfill a need with the potential to create serious impact.

Capability & Fair Market Value

You've got to have the chops to deliver successfully, and your requested budget should align with industry standards for similar tasks to make sure it's fair.

Risk Assessment

Keep the risks low - no flops, legal dramas, or bad PR. We want projects with low potential for poor outcomes, legal issues, and negative public perception.

No Duplication of Funding

Bo double-dipping. Your project shouldn't have funding for the same work from another source.

Conflict of Interest & Anti-Bribery

Be upfront about any conflicts of interest. Bribes or gifts? Hard pass. Any bribery or compensation attempts will get your application canned immediately.

Open Source

All code-based projects must be open source, using licenses like MIT, GNU, or Apache 2.0. Non-OSS projects should still keep it transparent by sharing results with the public.

Evaluation of Applications

The cumulative score of your application depends on the votes cast by committee members. Take a glance at a sample vote for reference
